The S-Video cable will connect only video to your computer - NO SOUND.
Came second to Adobe video editing software which is worth $1500 AUD in Decmber 2004 APC Magazine), or PictureGear (a very basic program) that came with the camera. Resolution can be as high as 768 x 576 when exporting. The video has to be captured using software like WinDVD Creator (easy to use basic editing, again resolution reduced to 320 x 288), or Avid Free DV (FREE program off the net - difficult to learn but highly flexible semiprofessional level. The best way is with a memory card reader plugged into the computer via USB - a reader was part of the original accessories with the camera. I am not entirely happy with this method of downloading the stills off the memory card as the resolution is reduced to 320 x 288. With XP, it will recognize the camera like a hard drive on your machine and you can download stills via a download wizard within XP. The firewire card should still work with other versions of Windows and the drivers for the card come with the card. I have not used the camera with any other version of Windows.
I bought a Firewire card with a cable included in the box for $50 AUD. However, you do need a firewire cable (other names for this cable are i.Link, or IEEE1394) and a firewire port on your computer. Posted on Saturday, Janu23:47 GMTIf you have Windows XP, you do not need a driver.
